What Books Do You Quote From?
Written by Sophie Klossner Feb 01, 2012

We all have favorite books…just ask Kirk Weisler.  He’s famous for sharing his books and the reasons he loves them.  He shares his “More Better Books” with many of us at the HDI Annual Conference, as well as when he speaks to local chapters.

Today I heard someone quote from Winnie The Pooh.  This person was a grown-up and perhaps that grown-up person wasn’t aware that they were quoting Winnie The Pooh, but as a former school teacher, one who read Winnie The Pooh to her 1st graders many years ago, I remembered the quote.

“A simple hello would do, thank you very much!”

And of course the other favorite quote from Winnie the Pooh…

“Promise me you'll always remember: You're braver than you believe, and stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think.”

Got me to thinking, and hoping you will share with our HDI Community, what are some of the books you quote from and what is that quote?  Please share with us…

All from "The Daily Drucker" by Peter Drucker:

The inability to stop doing anything is the central disease of government and a major reason why government today is sick. Hospitals and universities are only a little better than government in getting rid of yesterday.

The first rule for the concentration of executive efforts is to slough off the past that has ceased to be productive. If leaders are unable to slough off yesterday, to abandon yesterday, they simply will not be able to create tomorrow.

If we did not do this already, would we, knowing what we know, go into it now? If the answer is no, the reaction must be “What do we do now?”

The test of good management is whether it enables the successful performer to do their work.
